New feature to have advanced statistics using our SMTP server

We are proud to announce a new feature that was created by our team for campaigns sent through the Mailrelay accounts.

This new feature is the incorporation of the tracking mechanism to offer statistics in messages sent one by one through the SMTP server . This will allow users of the enterprise version the option to access advanced statistics, such as clicks, open rates, geolocation, ETC, for newsletters sent using the SMTP server, just like the existing statistical information available for users sending campaigns through the online panel.

This new feature is especially useful for customers who need to use their own interface for sending messages using a third-party CRM, management software, content portals, online store, ETC, as these users only need to configure the Mailrelay SMTP server, to benefit from advanced statistics for each campaign, even if your system has limitations in this regard.

Another interesting option is the possibility of integrating the information collected from Mailrelay in any project, applications or portal without using our API, reducing the complexity and development time. The only thing you will have to do will be to set up your system to send the emails via the Mailrelay SMTP, with a small change to the subject line, so that you can find the information about the campaign later, in the statistics menu in the online panel.

How to activate and use this new feature?

This service is available only in the enterprise version and Mailrelay free accounts, therefore if you have any paid plan with the standard version, you should contact our sales department to request the upgrade of your plan.

No matter what is your version, you should also request the activation of the SMTP server, if you have not used this feature before now. Additionally, you should contact our support department using the contact form to request the activation of the tracking system for SMTP in your account. Remember that the SMTP configuration data was sent to your email address by the system in the welcome message.

It is very easy to start using this feature. Whenever you send a campaign using the SMTP, if you wish to have advanced statistics, as if you were sending the newsletter using the online panel with clicks, views ETC, you only need to include in brackets the following code in the subject line of the email:

[X-MR-Tags: 01]

Note that the number you enter is the identifier of the campaign, so the system will group all messages sent using the same identifier as a single campaign.

Don’t worry, because your subscribers cannot see this code, as the system will remove it from the subject of your newsletter automatically. However , please always test using your own email address, to make sure that the identifier  was included correctly. Remember that the identifier must be alphanumeric.

The statistics and the results of all individual messages with the same ID number will be visible in your online panel in the menu statistics as a single campaign, just as the newsletters sent through the platform.

To analyze the results, click Statistics -> General Statistics. Among the available newsletters for viewing, select the SMTP emails option at the end of the list. You can select the date range and the level of detail. You will also find SMTP Tag, use this option to search by the identifier that you want to analyze. You can also select multiple identifiers to analyze the results of several grouped campaigns. Always remember to use different numbers for each of your campaigns, so you can analyze all the available statistics.

      Hagan que la funcionalidad de estadisticas lea de un header smtp tambien, ademas del subject. No siemrpe es posible cambiar el subject o es muy riesgoso. Saludos!, Pablo

        Hola Pablo, gracias por darnos tu opinión. Lo que comentas se valoró en su momento cuando implementamos esta prestación pero era complejo técnicamente y menos seguro ya que las cabeceras pueden ser modificadas, además de que no todos los usuarios tienen los conocimientos y posibilidad de tocarlas.

        Elegimos el asunto precisamente porque es accesible a todos. No hay ningún riesgo ya que el tag se elimina por el sistema, no obstante como siempre antes de hacer el envío completo hay que hacer pruebas parar verificar que está funcionando correctamente todo.

        Hola de nuevo Pablo, ya tienes disponible la opción que nos solicitabas y es posible utilizar el header X-MR-Tags.
